3-Dimensional view of regular bodies and bodies derived from them.
With partition level and special effect set to 0, it displays regular bodies.

Partitioning means that each face of the polyhedron is split into multiple triangles; higher levels mean recursive splitting.

Special effects include extrusion of the surface midpoints to create a star shape. The "variable part" slider controls the lengt of the prongs. Other effects as cutting the outer edges of the body are experimental.

Just play with the sliders!

Credits: The rendering engine was taken from the KeplerStern3D demo I received from Jürgen Richter-Gebert.

Wire Cables / Drahtseile

On the righthand side, this construction shows several commercially available variants of cable wires.
The large drawing is a cable wire that can be modified by moving the sliders (the lowest, K, is for the outermost level).
You can construct wire cables with up to 4 levels.

The drawing is done by a small script, using recursive functions.
The cables look similar to fractals, although the cable construction can use different multipiers on each level.

Be careful with the top sliders. You might end up by drawing 61*37*37*37 ~= 3 million circles.
